An Entry From a Long-Abandoned Journal

Tues Jan 19: Asian skate kid. Then walked with him in silence down the tracks. He split off and skated up Cherry.

So the some-year anniversary of this just passed. Happy anniversay, dude. I saw a lot of you in the months, and the summer, that followed. And then never again.

Cherry Street really needs to start commemorating the moment, the skater and me with a deep-winter street festival. All the other evenings a statue should stand guard where Cherry Street dead ends at the river. You, heading east into town, your skateboard across your shoulder, poised for slamming back onto the pavement. A statue of me on the tracks watching you go might prove impractical.
